Functional Testing
Stop guessing and start understanding your body.
If you've been doing all the "right" things: eating well, managing stress, prioritising sleep, and you still don't feel like yourself, the missing piece is often information, not effort. Functional testing gives us a clear, individual picture of what's actually happening in your body right now, so we can stop guessing and start addressing the root cause of your symptoms rather than just the surface of them.
I work with a small number of trusted, clinically-recognised laboratories to offer stool, blood, saliva, breath, urine and DNA testing, each chosen because it gives truly actionable results, not just a snapshot. Every test is interpreted alongside your history, symptoms and goals, and feeds directly into your personalised nutrition plan.
Labs I partner with

Why test at all?
Symptoms rarely tell the whole story on their own. Bloating, fatigue, low mood, skin flare-ups, irregular cycles and brain fog can all stem from a handful of very different underlying imbalances, and no two people get there the same way.
Testing takes the guesswork out of that process. It gives us a benchmark to start from, a way to track whether what we're doing together is actually working, and, for a lot of clients, simply the reassurance of seeing what's going on in black and white.
Functional testing builds a much fuller picture of your current health and function than a standard check-up usually allows for, so we can be precise rather than general with your plan.
Stool Testing
(Comprehensive Gut Health / Microbiome Testing)
What is it?
Your gut microbiome is as unique to you as your fingerprint, and it underpins far more than digestion: it plays a role in immunity, hormone regulation, mood, skin health and inflammation. A comprehensive stool test uses a single at-home sample to assess digestion and absorption, gut barrier function, inflammatory markers, and the balance of beneficial bacteria, opportunistic bacteria, yeasts and parasites in your gut.
Who might benefit?
Anyone with ongoing digestive symptoms, such as bloating, IBS, constipation, diarrhoea, reflux or discomfort after eating. But it's just as relevant for people whose symptoms don't look "digestive" on the surface: persistent fatigue, brain fog, skin conditions like eczema or acne, recurrent infections, weight gain, or hormonal symptoms that haven't responded to other approaches. If your gut is out of balance, it tends to show up everywhere.

Comprehensive Blood Testing
What is it?
A full blood panel that looks well beyond what a standard GP blood test typically covers, including active vitamin and mineral status (vitamin D, B12, folate, full iron panel), a full thyroid panel, cholesterol and cardiovascular markers, blood sugar regulation, immune function, liver and kidney function, inflammation, and relevant hormones.
Who might benefit?
Whether you've come to me for gut symptoms, skin concerns, low energy, weight changes or hormonal imbalances, this test always surfaces something relevant, and it gives us a solid, data-backed foundation to build the rest of your plan on. It's also a brilliant marker to repeat down the line, so you can see in black and white how much has shifted as we work together.
Nutrigenomic DNA Testing
What is it?
A one-off cheek swab that gives a permanent map of your genetic variants across key areas of health, from nutrient metabolism and detoxification to hormones, methylation, histamine clearance and nervous system function. As a Lifecode Gx-trained practitioner, I use this information to understand how your body is likely to respond to different foods, nutrients and lifestyle factors, so your plan works with your biology rather than against it.
Who might benefit?
Anyone who wants a truly personalised, long-term view of their health, this is especially useful if you've tried a lot of generic advice already and want to understand why it hasn't worked for you specifically. Because your DNA doesn't change, this is a one-time test whose insights stay relevant for life.

Comprehensive Hormone Check
DUTCH testing, HuMap or blood analysis
What is it?
A detailed hormone panel (via saliva or urine, depending on what's most appropriate for you) mapping sex hormone metabolites, including oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone, alongside adrenal hormones and cortisol rhythm. Rather than a single snapshot, this gives a picture of how your hormones are behaving and interacting, which is often more useful than one-off blood levels.
Who might benefit?
If you're experiencing PMS, irregular or heavy cycles, low mood, hot flushes, poor sleep, low libido or symptoms of perimenopause, this test helps identify what's actually driving them, so your plan can target the right imbalance rather than a generic one. It's equally valuable if you're dealing with ongoing stress or burnout, ongoing skin issues like adult acne or breakouts that flare around your cycle, or unexplained weight gain that hasn't responded to diet and lifestyle changes, hormones and adrenal function are often a key link in all three.
Thyroid Testing
What is it?
A comprehensive thyroid panel covering TSH, Free T4, Free T3, Reverse T3 and thyroid antibodies, alongside key nutrients that impact thyroid health, such as folate, iron, B12 and vitamin D. Standard NHS thyroid testing usually only measures TSH, which can miss a significant amount of what's actually going on.
Who might benefit?
Anyone experiencing fatigue, unexplained weight changes, low mood, hair loss, feeling the cold more than others, or irregular cycles, particularly if a GP thyroid test has come back "normal" but you still don't feel right.

SIBO Breath Testing
What is it?
Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) is a common but frequently overlooked cause of persistent digestive symptoms. This at-home breath test measures hydrogen and methane gases produced by bacteria in the small intestine over a few hours, helping identify whether bacterial overgrowth is contributing to your symptoms.
Who might benefit?
If you experience bloating (especially straight after eating), excessive wind, changes in bowel habits, or IBS-type symptoms that haven't improved with diet changes alone, SIBO testing can uncover a root cause that's easy to miss otherwise.
